How to Use Benchmark Studies

Thursday, March 31, 2011

One question or comment keeps popping up on our blog, that we want to share with all our readers. That comment is usually something like: What is the average response rate for ...(you can fill in the blank here) ? We totally understand why marketers want to know those facts, but what are you going to do with the answer? Truly...if we said the average email open rate was 24%, what would you do with that information, and more importantly, how would you act on that data?

While researching information about the 10 characteristics of human behavior, I found some interesting insights from marketing guru Jay Abraham: Take a look and think about the effect it would have on your business. The more you study the communication process, the more you realize that successful communications... be they ads, sales letters, brochures or proposals... tap into key characteristics of human behavior. The more you are aware of these obvious, "commonsense", basic attributes, the more powerful and effective your communication will be.

Mind Clutter

Clean out the Mind Clutter!  We have all heard it, some more than others, but if you are in the network marketing business, you have heard it. “This business is so hard.  People are just too busy to want to hold parties." "I love my products, but I feel like they’re too expensive.” “I can sign up a lot of people, but then no one wants to do anything.” Sound familiar?  Maybe too familiar because you were shouting, “That’s what I think!”  So, what do all of these things have in common?

Top 10 LinkedIn Marketing Tips

Monday, December 6, 2010

We recently ran across a very good article by Lewis Howes with 10 great tips for maximizing LinkedIn. So good in fact, we wanted to share it here. We know that many people have accounts at LinkedIn, but we think very few people know how to fully optimize their LinkedIn profiles for success, and even fewer probably know how to get the best out of LinkedIn. Where Facebook tops the list of fun social networking sites, LinkedIn tops the charts for business networking. With over 85 million users, LinkedIn offers...

Sell What People Want, Not What They Need

Monday, November 8, 2010

One of the hardest marketing lessons to learn (or so it would seem) is to always understand that people buy what they want, not what they need. Yet, mastering that understanding is the key to success or failure. It doesn't matter what product you sell or what industry you're in, if you are trying to sell based on your customers needs, you're headed down the wrong road. Rarely do people buy based on needs. We've all seen people who may not have a job, or may not have health insurance, but they will be lined up to buy the biggest, baddest high definition television. People buy because they WANT, rarely because they NEED.......

Previously only available to users of the Google toolbar, the new URL shortening system is now open to the public. Google has created a webpage at Goo.gl where you can take a very long website address and shorten it. Similar to programs like Bit.ly and TinyURL, Goo.gl not only shortens the URL for you, but it also integrates into your Google account with analytics. Are You Stealing Blog Images from Google?

Thursday, September 9, 2010

There's a chance you could be a thief and not even realize it.. and you may be displaying some stolen property right on your blog. In the past few months, we've seen top leaders in internet marketing teaching in their videos the ease of which a person can simply grab any image they like/need from Google and use it on a blog, an ebook or an advertisement. Here's the short answer: It's stealing. Plain and simple. That being said, how is it that even the most law-abiding, rule-following people are often unaware that grabbing any image off the internet is not okay? We think it relates to the misconception that once an image is put on the internet, it's free for anyone else to use. The truth is, we don't have the right to use an image we don't own any more than we automatically have the right to use any ebook, article, blog post or website we find on the internet. Copyright applies to photos and graphics in much the same way it does for printed words. If we were to go to your blog, copy one of your blog posts and.......

All Hat and No Horse; Rules for Being Authentic Online

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

That's what we often say here in Texas.... "He's all hat and no horse." Sometimes, you might also hear "He's all hat and no cattle." The meaning, however, is the same. It's said about someone who might otherwise be called a "poseur;" Someone who pretends to be something or someone they are not. The internet is full of people like that. In fact, the internet makes it easier for people to appear to be something they really aren't at all. You can see them in advertisements, product reviews, sales pages, social networking sites and more. You probably know a few. You may even be one (though surely not!). We all want to put only our best selves out on the internet, so where is the line drawn when it comes to being authentic? Is it ever okay to.....

Picture Yourself Successful

As the owner of a Photography Studio for nine years, experience taught me many things about photography, and life itself. In many ways, the two are very similar. The process of creating a perfect photograph, involves many steps, that correspond to creating a perfect vision of your successful life. Here are some examples: To take a picture, you must point the viewfinder toward the object you want to capture. The same holds true with your vision. You need to determine what outcome you desire. Define your "picture" and identify the requirements, and determine how you will reach them......

Life appears to involve suffering.  Where does it all come from?  What is the point?  What can you do about it?  We think, we speak, we act.  The sum total of these thoughts, words, and deeds make up each of our ever-evolving characters.  Some people excel in certain areas, others will triumph in others.  Some cower under the same circumstances that others flourish in.  We are all different except in one very special way....
