Picture Yourself Successful

As the owner of a Photography Studio for nine years, experience taught me many things about photography, and life itself.  In many ways, the two are very similar.  The process of creating a perfect photograph, involves many steps, that correspond to creating a  perfect vision of your successful life.

Here are some examples:
To take a picture, you must point the viewfinder toward the object you want to capture.  The same holds true with your vision.  You need to determine what outcome you desire.  Define your “picture” and identify the requirements, and determine how you will reach them.

For a successful image, you need to focus on the desired object.  Bring the details of your image, into sharp clarity.  The same can apply to your life.  It will be necessary to be specific about your vision.  See it, feel it, smell it, experience it.  If you are not clear about your outcome, you will never create the passion and excitement that comes from a clearly defined dream.

When creating a perfect image, many times you need to frame your camera’s viewfinder, to compensate for adverse, or challenging conditions.  Your “view” through your life viewfinder, can always be adjusted to include, or remove objects that are problems as well.

In photography, using the proper lens is critical to success.  You need a lens that will focus on the main object, making it large enough to see easily, and not get lost in the background clutter.  Is that not the same with life?  Make your vision the most important element of your image, with everything else providing background, and support.

You need to take hundreds of shots to get a handful of good images.  I have taken thousands of pictures, to create award winners.  As you go through life, it will be the same.  It takes a certain amount of work to create happiness.  Envisioning is not just about where you want to go.  It is also about how to keep going through the challenges, distractions, and perspective.  Look through your viewfinder, find the right lens, picture yourself successful, stay focused and you will have an “award winner”!

To Your Success…

    Hi Judy,

Great analogy of photography and how it applies to life and business. In the process, Your last few comments are spot on- “keep going through the challenges, distractions, and perspective”.

Business and life are full of challenges and if you can’t get through the challenges and distractions it’s difficult to progress to the next level. Perspective is also important because most people’s woes are taken out of context i.e. their perspectives aren’t nearly as bad as they perceive them to be.

      Hi Janette…
Thanks for your kind comments. We agree whole heartedly, that there are times when we do take our woes out of context, and when we focus, we usually find that it is not nearly as bad as we pre-thought. Yes, life is full of challenges and distractions, but as Jim Rohn says, life is a complete symphony, and it would not be nearly as good, if all we ever had was the “happy high notes” … you need the heavy base and drums as well, to make it all complete!

Great analogy. I agree. Where would we be if we did not have a vision, something to focus on, a picture of what we want to achieve.

Whilst I am not too good at taking photographs, I do have purpose in my life and I have a vision of where I aim to be. Your post reminded me of that. Thank you. Peter

      Hi Peter…
Thanks so much for your comments. It is important for all of us, we think, to have a vision. Creating photographic images, is the same principle. Focus on the main subject, clear out the background clutter, and create the picture. Life can be the same way.
