Several days ago, we looked at Life is a rubber band… “vision and reality”. Let’s explore that further, with part two. We understand the value of goals, and how they will help increase our “vision”.
Think of your goals as a vehicle to the substance, style, and freedom of a rewarding life. Just like you need your “car” or a mode of transportation, to get you from point A to point B … you need your goals to get you from where you are, to where you want to be.
But this is not just about your destination. It is about the trip. Let’s enjoy the ride! Don’t just take the Interstate, and rush to the end. Take some side roads, stop and stretch your legs occasionally, and visit some of the tourist attractions. One might even benefit from having a picnic lunch along the way! Of course, what you choose for your vehicle will make a difference too. ( I could drive my van, but on a beautiful day, it would be a lot more fun in my 1957 Thunder-bird convertible!)
Do you look at your “vision” as a tool? Maybe you should. You could be using it to design your life. So let’s help your imagination, and your mental image, by treating it in the present tense. Sort of a right-here, right-now type of thinking. If you are like me, at first you will “not believe it”, but you will quickly find that your brain will not know the difference. So fantasize what your life would be like, as if you already are having, doing, and being, everything you want. This is now YOUR VISION!
Want some ideas of what to put in your vision? Remember, this is your vision, not your reality, so make it GRAND!
Here are some:
Where do you live? What does it look like? What kind of house are you living in?
Who are you sharing your life with? What kind of person are they? What do they look like?
What do YOU look like? Are you fit, or are there areas that need improvement?
What does your business look like? How about your finances?
Are you mentoring people? Or are you being mentored…or both?
Do you have a rich, satisfying lifestyle? Imagine what you are doing.
Taste all of it…every morsel. Where are you going to travel to? What do you want to experience today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, the next 10 years, and the rest of your life?
Some find it is difficult to imagine. Life has taken a toll on our imagination. So, think back to when you were 6 years old. You, and all your friends would sit around and imagine life. Excitement and shear joy, would have us exaggerate everything. One child will say…I want a swimming pool when I grow up, and the next child says …ya, ya, and I want TWO swimming pools! The next child will say…ya, let’s have two swimming pools, and live on the beach! Do you see the picture here? They are not doing this out of greed, just simply from the excitement of imaging that everything in life is possible!
Take some time with this exercise. You will probably make changes over time. Hopefully it is an on going process, and you will find you want to make changes…lots of them…as you proceed. As some things fall into place, and you achieve what you envisioned, create some more!
Give yourself permission to change, and don’t give yourself permission to stay the same. You will be amazed at what will happen…and share what happened to you, and some of your thoughts with all of us!
To Your Success…

Hi Lisa and Judy,
I think this post is helpful for people to have success in the industry. There will be people who don’t want to envision the future and those that do.
For those that do see what they want to become there will be true abundance. Once you see success there’s no turning back and the future gets better and better as time goes on. There are so many things cemented in our mind that can make us go against our beliefs though. We surely have to keep our beliefs in check…..

Hi Rick…
Thanks for you comments. We agree so much with you. There are people who don’t want to envision the future. For them, perhaps that is really what they want in life. For those who do…the future in always in abundance. You are so right, there is no turning back, once that feeling is cemented into our mind.
To your success, always…

Hey great blog post. Seems the older we get the less we spend time dream building. Life does have a way of wearing us down doesn’t it.
thanks for sharing you thoughts.

Hi Dan…
Oh, indeed, the older we get, the more we lose our talent for daydreaming. That has become so evident to us lately. Life can wear you down, but it sure does not have to. It is always up to each of us, what we want to do with our circumstances. Thanks for your thoughts, and we look forward to seeing more.

Judy and Robin,
You have an excellent way of explaining this very important exercise of understanding our goals and creating our vision. Your reference to your goals being your car to get you where you want to go was excellent. You also described the importance of enjoying our trip and taking side excursions along the way that made the journey’s significance very evident.
All the questions you listed to help us fully create our vision are excellent and give us all the details to make our vision as real as possible. You mentioned thinking like when we were six and letting our imaginations run wild. That is key to envisioning our grand futures.
Thanks for giving us an excellent guide and path to cement our goals and create our vision!

Hi Robin
Thanks for a great Post.
Yes we need to learn to dream again like children
and start to belief in it like they do.
I think that is were we all mes up we do not belief
like children because we look at life and what did happen to
us. We must get out of the hole of disappointment and
stand on the hills and go after our Dream and vision .
