Thomas Edison never viewed any of his light bulbs that did not work, as a failure. Rather, each broken prototype brought him closer to his success.
Colonel Sanders was rejected over 500 times, before someone decided to take a chance on his famous fried chicken recipe. The rest is history.
Sandy Moreland lost her mother and her daughter in the same week. From that total despair, she picked herself up, and made the decision to care for others, and replace some of her lost love.
Vidanne Tsamis, a successful actress, was paralyzed in a devastating accident. Undaunted, she built a successful network marketing business from her bedroom, in which she lives.
What do these famous people have that others don’t? One thing seems certain to us. Each have a tremendous strength of purpose, that strength that comes from deep within, that propels them to success. The difference between wise and foolish is this: The wise absolutely never give up. They continue to challenge and never run away.
So, it seems the struggle truly lies within ourselves, against our own willingness to give up, or to accept less than success. If this is true, then the true secret to success MUST lie in the sheer refusal to quit, refusal to fail, and in the struggle to win the battle, against our own fears and weaknesses.
Everyday we try….we win! Everyday we move forward, we get closer. Everyday we advance, even if only one inch, makes our goals that much closer. Everyday, we build our inner muscle. Our power increases, and our vision expands. We develop the true strength of purpose!
No one finds their mission by standing still. The key lies in climbing every mountain before us. In the climb, we develop endurance, the ability to keep going. This enables us to take on even higher mountains, especially the truly scary ones…like lack of self-worth and fear. No matter what the obstacle, if we move forward, without giving up, it will vanish like a mirage. Who knows…maybe you will invent a light bulb!
To your success…

What a fabulous post! There are so many people who are living near us all that are ‘leading the way’ on their own climbs to success. It is great to share all these examples and inspire both ourselves and others to achieve as much as possible. I’ve been watching some programs about the heroic efforts of some of our severely injured troops returning from active service .. I can only stand in awe of their efforts in rehab and applaud their determination to rise above all obstacles in their way.
Best wishes
Joanna

Hi Joanna…
Oh my gosh, you are so right! There is such heroic efforts put forth by so many kinds of people, and so many types of situtuations. We should all stand in awe and honor, AND do the best we can, to up hold our end of the bargain, and be the best we can be. Just look at all of the opportunities we have! Thanks Joanna, for pointing that out! You made our day so much brighter!

Thank you Judy and Robing for these great inspirations. I am sure many of your readers have similar stories of being taken to their knees by life events, and then choosing to get back into life full force. It is the essential ingredient of success, however we define it for ourselves. Sometimes it can be just getting through another day; sometimes it can be giving a helping had to another. Everyday is an opportunity. Than you.

Hi Carolyn…
Your thoughts are so so true. There are so many of our readers that have incredible stories to tell, about overcoming life events that we cannot even imagine. But getting back, and moving forward is what it is all about, isn’t it? There are days that just don’t go well, but how we react is what is important. It is not the falling down, it is the “getting back up”! Enjoyed your comments, and look forward to more from you.

Thank you for such an inspirational post! I agree, all we can do is put one foot in front of the other and repeat the motion. And if we can choose to enjoy the journey (or the climb) while we are doing this, then we will have a much more enjoyable life. Focusing totally on the outcome, the goal is so limiting. Keeping it open allows us space for an even BETTER outcome!
Thanks again,
Adam

Thanks for your thought Dr. Sheck. Yes, we can focus on the outcome, and you are so right…what a limiting vision. It can be so grand, if we allow the open space to view our future, how much larger it can be.

Perfect post! I say that because it fits perfectly with how my mind has been working lately! Instead of fighting against the hard times in our lives how much better would it be if we embraced those as things that are polishing us and transforming us from a diamond in the rough to a bright, beautiful, shining gem? Thanks for sharing!

What a powerful post. I love the point you make here that we are moving forward in a positive direction every day we take action, regardless of how seemingly insignificant. We need to give ourselves credit for every triumph, even if it’s something as small as making a single phone call.
Small steps, taken daily, can lead to an incredible journey!

Yes, moving in a positive direction is the goal. But I think at times, even simply moving…either direction, gets us to the right point eventually. But it sure is a lot more fun, if you are on a positive road!

I have never heard of Vidanne Tsamis, but I could not find anything about them on Google. Sounds like an interesting story. We make up a million excuses not to do our businesses and she created hers from her bedroom. That is amazing. Thanks for sharing this post.

My friend and I were chatting the other day about something very similar to this. I said something like “life is a constant revolution, it keeps revolving like clockwork, and there is no choice to stand still.”
To attempt to stand still is the equivalent to putting one foot in the grave. If you are not attempting to get better and advance yourself you are simply going to get left behind.
Thanks for making me thing about this stuff in the morning it gets the brain flowing!

Good morning Joe…
Thanks for your comments. “Life is constant revolution” is SO TRUE! And yet, so many seem content with daily routine. There is, or course, comfort in a routine, but as you said…”Not attempting to get better and advance yourself, you are going to get left behind.” We are choosing the “climb”!
